Q - Who writes the articles we see on
BronxWorld?
A - Anyone may contribute articles for
publication on BronxWorld! Some of our content is contributed
by local writers, the rest is by contract with various publishing
houses. If you think you have written something that may interest
our viewers, you are welcome to submit your materials at anytime.
The decision to publish lies solely with our editors.
Q - Do you answer questions about computers?
A - The email we receive contains just
about anything on everything. We answer all of it on a one to
one basis. If we receive enough email on one particular subject,
we may eventually set up a special area to cover that topic or
interest. In the meantime, post your questions and answers on
our Community Bulletin Board.
Q - Does BronxWorld advertise merchants
only located in the Bronx?
A - Although our focus is the Bronx, you'll
find a number of our clients have storefronts outside the borough
or have multiple locations and wish to be represented on BronxWorld.
Q - The wife and I work from home. I build
lawn furniture in the winter and we sell them at Flea Markets
in the summer. Its sort of a small operation and traveling
is starting to wear on us
A- Your can place a display ad or take
advantage of a Free listing with us. No one knows your business
better than you. We can only suggest advertising as a possible
avenue to both increase your sales and expand your business coverage.
Q - Is a Free business listing really
Free, or am I going to be bombarded with a ton of solicitations
to buy something from you.
A- A Free business listing IS Free, but
lunch you will have to pay for! We will periodically ask if you
wish to expand your presence on BronxWorld twice per year.
Q - I may have to return an item I purchased
at one of your online stores. How do I go about it?
A- All transactions made at our online
stores are totally controlled by them individually. Each store
has the departmental setups to handle any customer situations.
Link to the particular store through BronxWorld and contact the
particular department at that store to resolve your situation.
We have listed the telephone numbers of our affiliates on the
Customer Support Page.
Q - I received an E-Mail telling me I
have a greeting card waiting for me somewhere but dont
know how to get it.
A- Free BronxWorld Greeting Cards can
be sent and viewed from our greeting card page. ((Use the button
on our Home page or the listing on the Daily Outlook page.))
The Number you received in your E Mail has to be typed
or cut and pasted into the View box in order to display both
the card and who sent it.
Q - I think I won the Lotto!!!
A- Were happy for you and sad we
cant charge you to find out if youve won. (If you
did win we could all use a raise here, Thanks!)
Q - I already have a business listing
provided by my franchise chain, why should I list with BronxWorld.
A- A delicate question to answer but here
it goes. If I am doing business in a local town, THAT town would
be the place I need an advertisement. The priorities of a franchise
chain are generally to project the merits of the chain, NOT a
particular store. If you were looking for you - where would you
look first?
Q - How is it that the photos I sent in
for the Photo Gallery look different on screen than the originals?
A- To keep a long story short. We do have
to sort of manipulate the photo to a degree to conform to an
electronically reproducible and transmittable format in order
for the photo to both fit and display on the most common installed
base of computer systems without obvious distortions and resolution
loss. Not all of the photos we receive are sent in on disk. Some
prints sent in must be scanned, first in a number of resolutions,
(hoping to nail the median pixel density for clarity) without
losing the primary subject definition, and second, cropped to
line up and be positioned in exact screen allocations. Then
the
photo has to be compressed for fast downloading to your computer
screen. (Remember this was the short answer!)
Q - Do you accept manuscripts for publication?
A- You really didnt write in enough
for us to be sure we can answer your question fully, but here
goes: The editor has the say on what text is published on BronxWorld.
So by "manuscript" do you mean a book (that
we might publish in installments?) A training manual?
An essay? If you're looking to send in an article, these are
usually informative pieces on his or her profession from industry
professionals, such as, an auto mechanic, a dentist, an attorney,
etc. We can publish an original newsletter, if its content is
both informative, relevant, entertaining etc. (This to be decided
in part by visitors to this website, and within BronxWorld publishing
guidelines.) (Well send this one upstairs and see what
we can do to answer this one in greater detail original
scripts first publishing rights second publishing
rights, etc, etc.)
Q - I already have a page on (deleted).
I made it myself. Can I do the same on BronxWorld?
A- Well
.We applaud your initiative,
more power to you! Many of our clients happen to already have
a page up somewhere. However, one of our tasks is to have our
viewers get to our clients, stores, etc, in as few mouse clicks
as possible. (No one wants to type in loooooooong web addressees.)
NOTE: A
"Personal Page" project has been in the works for awhile
now. First thing is setting up an area on our server AND coming
up with a program for non-programmers by which they can design
their own web page. That second part, right now, is a bit involved.
As soon as we can get that one off the ground, youll hear
about it.
Q - Sometimes I get into BronxWorld and
everythings cool, I get to a friends house and its a whole
different story.
A- We hear you guy! Viewing BronxWorld
and other sites on different computers does make you wonder sometimes.
The answer is that: different Browsers interpret different program
code differently. Right now there really isnt a uniform
standard for viewing web content the same way on every computer.
Each Browser AND each version of each Browser will display the
average web page differently. ((Even the programming codes available
to us change in relation to what and how we try to publish.))
Q - Ive been using my old CDs
for coasters and now find my last drink burned a second hole
in a CD I really liked. Any suggestions?
A-
1 - Definitely water down your next drink.
2 - Wait until they come out with a 2000x (speed) CD player,
then the second hole shouldnt make a difference.
3 - Mouse over to our CDNow store and order another copy of your
favorite CD. ((A little commercial there.))
Q - I need to find a lead singer and maybe
a backup drummer for a band Im starting, any ideas?
A- At the prices we charge for advertisements,
you should be able to assemble an orchestra for under fifty bucks.
For finding the people you need place your ad in our Classified
section, for getting the word out about your band have
us put up a page, some text like type of music you play, names
of the people in the group , a logo, what have you, further down
the road have us publish your club date schedules, locations,
etc.
